PANDEMIC IDEAS FOR YOUR WEDDING

There is no ignoring it or putting it lightly. The global Covid19 pandemic sucks. Plain and simple. Especially if you’ve been planning the biggest day of your life and your plans have had to change in one way or another. It’s not fair, it’s not fun, and if you’re one of those people reading this – we are so sorry that it’s happened to you.

However, we are currently living through history. In the years to come, people will study this period and write essays on it. There will be documentaries made and maybe even a movie starring Meryl Streep. We think that there is something to be said for embracing the pandemic, and not letting it ruin your plans. Have a little fun with it. Give yourself something to reminisce about with your friends, family or even grandchildren in the years to come.

So here we have the top five ways you can embrace the pandemic on your wedding day, and therefore not let it ruin anything else!

1. CAKE TOPPERS
This is a fun, small way that you could incorporate elements of battling Covid19 into your wedding day. It’s one small detail, easily removed if you’d like photos without it, but a handful of photos of a tongue in cheek cake topper is a cute and fun way to remind yourself of the crazy time you had planning and going through with your wedding because of the coronavirus.

2. CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS
Want to commemorate the #toiletpapercrisis of 2020? Keen on reminding people to stay safe even after all this has passed? What about a “Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands” sign in the bathrooms? Or homemade soap as a wedding favour? (You could even DIY it with all the spare lockdown time we have now…) Or how about a practical gift for your guests: their own, personalised hand sanitizer? Whether it’s as bonbonniere or hidden in the bathrooms, this is a cute way of acknowledging the mess that covid19 caused (and cleaning it all up!)

3. FACE MASK BONBONNIERE
Cute cookies wearing surgical masks, chocolate figurines in PPE, or cake pops and cupcakes so well protected that no one will get their germs. Just a few cute ideas to give your guests a chuckle, because let’s face it, they were looking forward to your wedding too! Their disappointment won’t have been as great as yours, but giving them a laugh through their little wedding favour is a cute touch. Or… consider giving everyone an actual homemade face mask to take a big group photo! Which conveniently leads us to our next suggestion…

4. FUN WITH YOUR PHOTOS
Take some photos where everyone is standing 1.5m apart. Get your bridal party to all wear facemasks for a shot. Put on some disposable gloves for the detail shots with jewellery, flowers or kissing close ups. Obviously, all of your photos don’t have to be silly, but a handful of pictures to remember what times were like is a very easy way to ensure you never forget the craziness of wedding planning… when you weren’t allowed to leave your house!

5. CHEERS WITH BEERS
This one should be self-explanatory really… what type of beer are you serving on your big day? Because there’s an aptly named one that you might like to consider instead…
